Using Hands-on Play to Promote Learning
Our goal is to leave your student feeling ready and confident heading into Kindergarten
Children are filled with curiosity. At Shoreline Christian School, we create a safe space where each student is nurtured and guided in a myriad of skills through play-based learning.
We would love to get to know your family and answer all of your questions.
Programs Offered
At Shoreline Christian, we offer two Pre-Kindergarten programs. For students who are 4 years old before September 1st, we provide gentle routines, guided play, learning centers, Christian values, and more. Our teachers focus on nurturing and developing strong social and emotional skills, so each of our students have a strong foundation for academic learning when heading into Kindergarten.

Our Daily Schedule
What does a Day in the Life of a Pre-Kindergartner at SCS look like?
Below is a sample schedule that will give you an idea of what your student will be learning each day.
Throughout the week, students enjoy specialist classes:
Extended Care
Shoreline Christian offers Extended Care in the mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for parents who need to drop their Pre-Kindergarten – 5th grade students off early. After school Extended Care hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Registration for extended care is required.
An Environment Filled With Care
Pre-Kindergarten is all about preparing students for the next step- Kindergarten.
This includes nurturing every aspect of your child- academically, socially, and emotionally. Our teachers and specialists guide each student through their journey of gaining independence in their everyday skills, following three-step directions, and developing tools to express their emotions and resolve conflict in healthy ways. At Shoreline Christian, we recognize that children learn at their own pace and that they learn when they feel safe and able to play with the content.
Our Pre-Kindergartners flourish through:
CLEAR ROUTINES
Our Pre-Kindergarten teachers start each year out with clear routines for all students. This creates a safe space for our students to be at different levels socially, emotionally, and academically. With our small class sizes, our teachers are able to meet each student where they are at and guide them appropriately.
HANDS-ON, PLAY-BASED LEARNING
We recognize that four and five year olds still need the time to play and be little. Young children in Pre-K learn better when they are provided with hands-on activities that incorporate our age-appropriate curriculum. Many social-emotional skills are being developed in children as they go from playing alongside their peers to playing with their peers.
FAITH INTEGRATION
At Shoreline Christian, we work to weave Christ into every aspect of our curriculum. By approaching our students with a Christian view of who they are, we help teach them how to interact with their peers and teachers.
MODELING KINDNESS
We hire teachers who desire to live like Jesus, showing patience and gentleness to our youngest learners. We set clear expectations, so students know what to expect and how to treat one another. We teach positive character traits and help students live them out authentically.

At the Pre-Kindergarten level, core subject areas include:
Hands-On, Play-Based Approach
We recognize that these 4 and 5 year old’s still need the time to play and be little. Young children in Pre-K learn better when they are provided with engaging hands-on activities that incorporate our age-appropriate curriculum. Many social-emotional skills are being developed in children as they go from playing alongside their peers to playing with their peers.
Preparation for Kindergarten
We work to prepare each child for their next step: Kindergarten. We focus on nurturing and developing strong social and emotional skills which then helps to build a solid foundation for academic learning.

What’s one of your favorite things about Shoreline Christian School?
“I have always enjoyed working with young children. My first job in high school was at an after school daycare. When my oldest son started pre-kindergarten, I was able to volunteer and be involved in his classroom. I fell in love with early learning, and the joy and excitement that children have at this age. They are expressive, full of imagination, ready and eager to learn, and still want to play! This opens the door for unique learning opportunities.”
