Our Daily Schedule
Flexible Start Time
At Shoreline Christian, our day begins with a gentle, flexible start. Students may arrive anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. Those arriving earlier have time to settle in and play educational games or catch up on missing assignments.

What does a Day in the Life of an elementary student at SCS look like? Below is a sample of your child’s classroom activities.
Throughout the week, students enjoy physical education and music appreciation classes twice per week and the following classes once per week:
Outdoor Play
An average school day at Shoreline Christian includes more than an hour of outside play time. We believe that so much important learning happens at recess. We have three staff members outside at recess to supervise, guide social interactions, and join in on playing.
Extended Care
Shoreline Christian offers Extended Care in the mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for parents who need to drop their PreK-5th grade students off early. After school Extended Care hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Registration for Extended Care is required.

SMALL CLASS SIZES
Our teacher to student ratio is 18:1. This allows each student to be seen and known. We have support staff who come and assist in classrooms as well as a learning intervention specialist that can support students wherever needed.
HANDS-ON LEARNING
We approach learning in a way that recognizes that students need to engage with the world around them. While we do have times of students sitting at their desk with paper and pencil, we intentionally include regular movement in our classrooms. We aim for hands-on engaging activities whenever applicable.
A CARING COMMUNITY
At Shoreline Christian, students gain a sense of belonging that extends beyond the classroom. We create intentional opportunities for our bigger students to be learning buddies with the smaller students. Our recess time has multi-aged games that happen naturally.
MODELING KINDNESS
We hire teachers who desire to live like Jesus, showing patience and gentleness to our youngest learners. They set clear expectations, so students know what to expect and how to treat one another. We teach positive character traits and help students live them out authentically.

“SCS has been more than a school to our family. It has nurtured our children’s hearts and minds. It is an environment where children are truly viewed as unique creations with unique needs, and met where they are at. My kids feel loved, known, and cared for, and it is under these circumstances that they have been able to thrive in their learning environments. The Shoreline Difference
Enriched Learning
We use a variety of curricula at Shoreline Christian School, including Tara West for math and literacy and hands-on science lessons from FOSS kits. In addition, students enjoy gym, music, art, and library time. All of our lessons are designed to create a strong academic and faith foundation.

Technology In the Classroom
Students in the first and second grades learn how to use technology and then utilize various apps to practice learning. Students in upper elementary use technology more often to demonstrate their learning.
Outdoor Play
Our playground is a favorite place for many of our students. Imaginative play comes more naturally when you’re in the woods; fairy houses are abundant, and there’s usually a restaurant where pinecone salads and stick soup are available for the good price of seven leaves. There’s room to run! We’re also grateful for a covered play area where many of our students enjoy basketball, gaga ball, and four square.

What’s one of your favorite things about Shoreline Christian School?
“My favorite thing about SCS is our community. I love that our school represents so many different Christian churches. This is one of the only spaces I’ve found where loving discussions are had about the Bible by people coming from all different places. It creates such an inclusive space to learn and grow! I was a student here from Kindergarten until I graduated high school, so it’s also really special to get to work alongside some of my former teachers (and classmates!).”

On average, 1:18. This ratio does not include our specialists who offer support in various classrooms throughout the school day, or dedicated grade-level aides who assist the classroom multiple times per week.
We approach learning with a focus on student engagement. Our small class sizes and our Learning Intervention Specialist ensure that no child is overlooked, providing additional support to students who may require it.
We welcome our families to embark on a personalized campus tour, witnessing our Chargers in action! Typically, the director of the school you’re interested in will serve as your tour guide. They will offer historical insights, describe our faith-based approach to learning, address your questions, understand your family’s individual requirements, and provide additional information to enhance your visit.
