We have a number of new staff joining us for the 2018/19 school year. Please extend a warm welcome to the following:
Emily Womelsduff - MS/HS Language Arts
I attended Shoreline Christian School from 4th through 12th grade, graduating in 2008. At Azusa Pacific University, I double-majored in English and Cinematic Arts and had the privilege of studying at Oxford University for a semester abroad. I am an author and screenwriter, and dabble in what seems like an endless array of creative mediums. My goal in returning to SCS as a teacher is to help students become both critical thinkers and compassionate members of their communities, neither at the expense of the other.
Stephanie Rasor - MS Mathematics
I attended SCS 3rd-12th grade and graduated in 2013. Since then, I've been through the doors of SCS wearing many different hats. After graduating from SCS, I attended Washington State University to get my BS in mathematics, specializing in secondary education. During summers, I spent time volunteering in Adam Haulter's math classroom to gain experience. These last two summers, I have also worked in the SCS summer care as well as the front office. After graduating from WSU in May 2017 and completing my student teaching this last year, I am excited to return to the place were it all began and teach middle school math here at Shoreline Christian.
Monica Wheeler - Kindergarten
Hi! My name is Monica Wheeler and I am very excited to join the Shoreline Christian School Community as the new kindergarten teacher! I recently relocated to Seattle from Georgia with my family last summer. I have an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from LaGrange College in Georgia, and a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M University. I taught kindergarten in Georgia for 7 years and taught 1st grade in Texas for 3 years. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach in a Christ-centered school.
I have been married to my wonderful husband Ben for 11 years and we have 3 little boys Henry (6), Simon (3), and Lucas (1). I’m excited that Henry and Simon will be joining the SCC community in 2ndgrade and preschool this school year. We have absolutely loved exploring the outdoors in the Northwest and enjoy hiking and bike riding with our kids.
Sam Vance - Elementary Music
Sam Vance is an interdisciplinary artist who can be found making music, visual art and theatre. He is married to actress Candace Vance and is the father of Max, Echo and Zoe. You can find them playing music together as A Total Fiasco www.atotalfiasco.com and see examples of Sam's visual art at www.vancearts.com
Sam holds a degree in Music and Business from the Art Institute of Seattle, a BA in Theatre from Seattle Pacific University and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College.
Ben Monsma - HS Social Studies
Hello, I'm Ben Monsma! I graduated from Calvin College in December 2017, and after a brief stint as a part time teacher in West Michigan I am excited about the new adventure of teaching high school social studies at SCS! I am eager to see what God has in store for me, my students and the Shoreline community.
Jeff Miller - Technology Integration
I love to tinker on just about anything mechanical, and derive great pleasure in spending entirely too long on something so it is just right when finished.
Hank Franklin - HS Life Sciences
After receiving a Biology and Education degree I worked in the Biotechnology industry in Seattle for 30 years. I enjoy running, backpacking, and spending time and traveling with my wife and three children. I am excited to share my passion for science with the Shoreline Christian students.
Kimi Linaman - Pre-Kindergarten
Hi, my name is Kimi Linaman, and I am excited to join the SCS team of teachers and families. I am passionate about working with children and have been involved with children from my early teen years. I have invested the last 9 years being a Pre- K teacher. Helping children to develop and grow brings so much joy to my heart. I consider it a great honor to share the love of Jesus with each child while helping them to engage and explore the world around them.
Outside of my preschool life, I spend a majority of my time with my husband Christopher and my children Wynton (17) and Aubrey (15). We are soccer fans and I am a soccer mom. I also enjoy facilitating Bible studies, healthy cooking, baking, cycling, hiking, singing, theater and music concerts. Being a mom is one of my greatest joys and being a preschool teacher is an added blessing of more precious time spent with littles.
